Speak: Testimonials

Andrew has presented to many groups and organizations. Here are what some of them have had to say about his presentation:

"I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank-you.  Thank-you for putting what was a successful event, over the top.  There is always a bit of a risk when you bring in an external speaker. You never know how people will react to a speakers style, their content or delivery. I believe you can take the resounding standing ovation as an indication of just how the Shell team felt about how you delivered what was an amazing story told in such an authentic and modest manner. Your story resonated with several of the key messages we were trying to get across to the team which was the most we could have asked for.

I will and have already recommended you to several people who are looking to have a speaker talk to a personal story that is engaging, inspiring and memorable.

It was truly a pleasure to work with you and thanks again for helping this years organizing team earn "best ever event" accolades."

-Gilles Theriault, Shell Canada

“I have twice had Andrew present to our top sales professionals and clients… his story is one of perseverance, dedication, and achievement framed by “doing the right thing”. I would highly recommend him as a speaker for those who want to set high standards and lead by example.”

“Andrew did a magnificent job giving this year’s graduating residents lecture. Many people complimented Andrew to me, congratulated me on finding him, and judged him to be the best of the seven speakers in the series. Andrew struck the perfect balance of an adventurous tale, humour, and inspiring human drama.”

I refer to Andrew as the "humble hero".

I have had the pleasure of hearing him present on a couple of occasions - once at an employee event as a motivational speaker and one at my own client appreciation night. My clients loved Andrew with his very powerful message of discipline, motivation & focus. His touching story of "choosing the right" in very difficult situations touched the hearts of all in the audience.

Andrew, I wanted to send a short note to again thank you for coming to speak with our group of new financial advisors. The feedback from the group on your presentation was excellent. What you have accomplished in your climbing career and your most recent experience in climbing Mount Everest is a truly inspiring message. Your presentation really resonated with our group not only in reinforcing what it takes to succeed, but in the importance of remaining true to your principles to achieve the ultimate success.

While we can’t fully appreciate what you went through, your powerful story aided by the realism of your slides and video gave us some strong insights, which will have a lasting impact. It was a privilege to have met you.

What does commitment, compassion and dedication look like?  In Andrew Brash's case it's a compelling, captivating and even somewhat humbling story that kept us mesmerized throughout his presentation. It's a journey complete with stunning visuals and subtle connections between the extreme conditions he faced on Mount Everest and the not-so-extreme struggles that we face in our everyday lives, enabling us to reflect and ponder upon life and the choices we make along the way. The delegates were still chatting about his presentation until the very end of the conference.

Andrew Brash’s Multimedia Keynote presentation left me uplifted and inspired, but most importantly with the knowledge affirming that saving a life is the most important thing we can do for another human being. Andrew eloquently tells his story of events that took place on Mt. Everest in 2006 and 2008 – and his audience is riveted and right along on the climbs with him! The pictorial slides take your breath away as the story unfolds. The “human element” of this story can’t help but touch your heart and ground your thoughts! Andrew Brash gives an excellent presentation and is a dynamic speaker!

Andrew, just to let you know, when people talk to me about the CIPS (information technology conference) from last year, they refer to it as “the conference where the Everest climbing guy spoke”. One year later people were still talking about the speech that you gave to our group – it was a huge hit.

We all enjoyed Andrew’s presentation, and we were especially touched by Andrew’s reunion with Lincoln Hall in Kathmandu. That was quite an emotional moment to share with Andrew.

I have listened to people like David Suzuki, Andrew Nikiforuk, Stephen Lewis, Sally Armstrong, June Callwood et. al., and I do not hesitate for a moment “nominating” Andrew to join as member of this group of extraordinary Canadians.

A great evening, many thanks, and best wishes,

Franz Dinnendahl, Calgary

I found your story to be inspiring and heroic. It is a wonderful story and I can only hope that I too would have made the right decision as you did, should I ever find myself in such a dilemma. It is something that we all hope we will do but, as you well know, many people choose a more self-centered path. It is when we hear stories like yours that we are reminded that there are always choices to be made in life and sometimes they have to be made in times of heavy physical and mental stress. You made the right choice and we are all very proud of you.

No one will soon forget the images, sounds and story that Andrew Brash shared as the closing speaker for the 2006 Dreambuilders Education Conference. His presentation held the audience spellbound, as he transported us to awe-inspiring corners of the globe that few would ever see, and unfolded an amazing story of determination and personal integrity. The sincere, captivating and inspiring presentation by Andrew Brash was the perfect closing to the conference, which this year had the theme, Imagine the Possibilities.

Andrew’s warm and personal delivery of his story combined with video and stills, held the audience in thrall. Andrew’s expeditions to exotic places seem to be almost not of this world. Everyone in attendance was mesmerized with the content and style of his story. You could literally have heard a pin drop in a crowd of 200 people. He showed grace by signing autographs for and/or talking to every person who approached him following his presentation. Andrew Brash is a professional to deal with in every way. We are extremely pleased with all areas of his participation in our events. On a personal level, I feel privileged to have met this true Canadian hero.

I would take this opportunity to once again thank you for your inspiring and insightful keynote address at our annual Education Fair held on September 10, 2006. This sold out event attracted over 500 parents and students to the University of Calgary, many parents and students have remarked to us time and again in formal evaluations and in informal chats about the impact the presentation had on their perspective of the world and the possibilities that exist as long as one focuses on attaining excellence in what ever it is that they pursue.

I still recall the hush that fell over the audience at the University of Calgary Theater as they heard you describe the beginning of your journey over incredibly exposed roads to base camp and the riveted expressions in their faces as they hung on to every word when you described the arduous journey back from within site of the summit, rescuing Lincoln Hall from certain death.

The standing ovation that you received at the conclusion of your address was well deserved and parents, students and dignitaries were moved on many levels with a story that inspired a renewed belief that one can achieve success in anything they strive for including education.

Many thanks once more for sharing your story with us and for giving our youth the inspiration to reach for the top. You are a role model and a great humanitarian for what you did in your journey. Your personal touch at the presentation is something that our youth will always remember and we hope that you continue this message in the future. We thank you for accepting our invitation to address our community and wish you success.

Through much of his climbing career, Andrew has worked as a Calgary high school teacher, sharing with his students the knowledge of his own life experience. On Jan 19th, 2011 Andrew was honored on CTV through their ‘Inspiring Albertan’ segment http://calgary.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20110119/CGY_inspired_brash_110119/20110119?hub=CalgaryHome
